Ruby Fresh Open Water Swimming is owned by Eddie Spearing. Eddie is a designer across many diverse industries with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering Design. The skills, knowledge and experience gained through an eclectic work path have all come together in the creation of 'Ruby Fresh Open Water'. Swimming in his home town fresh water lake he realised there were no wetsuits available designed expressly for fresh water use - it was a product waiting to be made.
Along with swim buddy Jamie Norman, they founded The Ruby Swim in 2015, an open water swim event in Lake Wanaka, New Zealand. It was out of the event, that Ruby Fresh Open Water Swimming was born with the first wetsuits arriving on New Zealand shores in 2019.
