What makes hemp material so perfect for hats?
It's not just the environmental benefits that make hemp such a good choice for a hat.
Hemp softens over time
Our hemp hat gets better with age. One of the best things about the natural hemp fibres is that they get softer and more comfortable over time, meaning your hat is only getting better.
Naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial
Hemp absorbs moisture without holding bacteria. Hemp is active against microbes in nature, helping
your hat stay clean for longer periods and preventing them from developing odour causing bacteria.
Breathable and highly absorbent
Hemp fibres are hollow, they allow more airflow over your head while at the same time being highly absorbent. This makes The Manu perfect for sunny spells and warm getaways
Strong natural fibres
Your Manu is strong! Hemp is one of the strongest fibres known on earth. We use a 90% Hemp and 10% Cotton blend for the Manu.
The Manu is made by our friends at the Tidy Hat Company
Size Notes
Size Notes
One size fits all with the adjustable strap which slips away into a concealed slot secured with the brass buckle.
It fits a little higher over the ear than say a Trucker style cap.

The Name
The Name
In keeping with our watery theme and to go along side our 'Noah' original swim cap, we landed on the name 'Manu'.
Two reasons...
The most obvious from an NZ point of view is our very own kiwi big splash making 'Manu' water bomb. Of course! Perfect!
But uncannily, Manu in Hindu Mythology is the counterpart to Noah !
Manu refers to the archetypal man. The current universe is asserted to be ruled by the seventh Manu (Vaivasvata Manu), who was warned of a great flood by a divine fish (Matsya, an avatar of Vishnu), built a boat, and repopulated the earth.
Mythological & Literary "Great Floods" are a common motif in global mythology and literature.
Noah (Judeo-Christian/Islamic): The most well-known figure, who built an ark to save his family and animals.
Utnapishtim (Mesopotamian): The hero from the Epic of Gilgamesh who was granted immortality after surviving the deluge.
Manu (Hinduism): The first man, warned of the flood by the Matsya avatar of Vishnu.

But for us – "A Manu" in a New Zealand Context:
Droppin' Watery Bombs. Explosive!
